The Ministry of Environment and Forestry and TURMEPA organized an activity named “Let’s Keep Mediterranean Clean.” Contact meeting was held concerning sea dumps at Çalış Orient Hotel and underwater dump was collected.

After the contact meeting on sea pollution, the group passed to Fethiye Home. Divers collected sea dumps after the meeting. Glass bottles, plastic bottles, metal boxes and cans were found underwater in front of Fethiye Home. Students who attended the activity “Let’s keep Mediterranean clean” were given t-shirts, cake and fruit juices.

Sea and Coast Administration Office President Afire Sever made a speech, “We are here to enlighten people about environment. We aim to draw the attention of citizens to sea pollution. We have made successful co-operations with municipalities. We have seen there are problems about sea pollution everywhere. When we saw the materials that we found underwater, we even found fridge and television. These cannot be thrown accidentally. 64 % of the dumps are cigarette stubs. We should raise awareness. We have invited students here as well.”
