Turkey Enduro and Motocross Championships were held in Esenköy Motocross Racecourse. The favorite racers kept their places at the closely contested races which were watched by more than 5 thousand motor lovers. When Serkan Özdemir, motocross racer from Fethiye, had an accident and broke his feet, everyone was upset. Serkan Özdemir was taken to the hospital with an ambulance and no other accident happened during the races.

Breathtaking Enduro Races

Racers who made their motorcycles jump to 10 m. height from the climbing hill exited the audiences.

The 4th Mediterranean Enduro Championship that was registered at the race calendar of Turkey Motorcycle Federation was held at Esenköy Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday. About 50 professional racers coming from İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, İzmit, Denizli, Antalya and Fethiye joined the breathtaking races. Racers competed at 9 categories with 3 etapes. Racers who made their motorcycles jump to 10 m. height from the climbing hill arranged specially for the races exited the audiences. Approximately 500 people came to watch the races from villages of Fethiye and several cities of Turkey. In addition, 10 child racers made the audiences watch a visual show at 2 km visual racecourse.

Kunter Kuşçu came first with 48 minutes, 35 seconds, 5 miliseconds; Serkan Özdemir came second with 48 minutes, 35 seconds, 8 miliseconds; and Mete Tanrıkutoğlu came third with 1 hour, 4 minutes, 24 seconds, 9 miliseconds at the end of the race.

Wave of Excitement at Motocross Races

Şakir Şenkalaycı was the first, Orçun Yiğit was the second and Kunter Kuşçu was the third at MX1-A while Ata Nurcan was the first, Ümit Dinin was the second, Serdar Odabaşı was the third at MX2-A at the 5th Turkey Motocross Championship.

MX1-B champions were as follows: Adem Karacaoğlu as the first, Kut Mete Akbıyık as the second, Osman Çatırcı as the third.

MX2-B champions were as follows: İlhan Karahan as the first, Oktay Seymenoğlu as the second, Mümtaz Pak as the third.

MX1-C champions: Mehmet Can Özkan as the first, İzzet Sezgin as the second, Murat Ekmekçi as the third.

85cc-B champions; Erdem Özgüneş came first, Eren Karaman came second, Uzay Cankatbengiç came third.

65cc-A champions; Asrın Rodi Pak came frsti, Mehmet Can Taşçıoğlu came second, Batıkan Ulu came third.

 65cc-B champions: Kayra Yurtsever as the first, Okan Teber as the second.

Fethiye District Governor Mehmet Ali Karatekeli stated the organization was perfect and Fethiye liked motocross: “We are to plan to do the air games and motocross festival at different dates.”

Memnun; “World Motocross Championships to be held in Fethiye

Süleyman Memnun, the President of Turkey Motorcycle Federation, noted they would like to organize world championship at Esenköy racecourse next year. Memnun indicated: “There was a small accident. One of our friends broke his leg. If this accident did not happen, we would have left here magnificently. About 10 thousand audiences do not leave us alone since the morning. This racecourse is very good. It is a place where racers from all over Turkey and the world come to train. As you know, everywhere is snowy in Europe from January 1st until the middle of April. Teams in Europe may come to train here as they go to Antalya for training as well. We are going to make the world championship here on May 25, 2010. We will have promoted here this way. Fethiye is to be one of the motocross centres in Europe because the field is very good. We have lack of some equipments. I feel like discovering a treasure because this place is a treasure. We are at the program for world championship on May 25. There will be two world championships next year. We have some deficiencies for world championship. We need to supply watering equipments. When we spend 200-300 thousand TL, we already catch that standard. People draw a lot of attention to the races. We can do them easily.”

Great Enthusiasm to Concerts

Famous singers and bands performed at the 1st Mediterranean Motocross and Youth Festival in Esenköy District of Fethiye. Teoman, Aylin Aslım, Art Niyet, Malt, Dejavu, 110 and Full As Bands made the young audiences have fun until the morning.

Band Art Niyet made a breathtaking show at the concert night in which famous rock singer Teoman came to stage at 01.30 a.m and stayed on stage until 03.00 a.m. German band Haggard was on the stage until the morning lights.

There were some arguments and fights between the press members and private security guards when the cameras tried to take pictures of Aylin Aslım and Teoman. It was also explained the organizers could not find the attention they expected at the festival.
