FTSO to restore Kayaköy
Miniature Project in Kayaköy
2 churches and 800 houses that are available to be used at 5000 year-old historical place are to be shared among the 81 cities of Turkey. The ethnographic pieces and values of the cities are to be displayed on the houses and at the streets.
Akif Arıcan, President of Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced they might restore the 50 buildings in Kayaköy if the ministry confirm and assign the project. Arıcan added he hoped this move were to be an example to other cities and asked Mini Turkey Project was to be put into practice.
Provincial Council President Zeki Köylü made an explanation and noted it was out of the question to carry out the other regions’ architecture in Kayaköy. Köylü explained it was not compatible to protection laws and added: “Project predicts the whole village is to be restored as faithful to its origins. Miniature project is to display the folkloric values and promote the cities of which houses are to be restored.”
