The British tourist who got lost in Kayaköy was found by gendarmerie teams in the morning hours. It was announced The British tourist whose dresses were torn found his way following the sounds of prayer calls.

The British tourist Terrance Bellamy (59) came to visit Kayaköy with his wife Barbara Smith in the afternoon yesterday. Terrance Bellamy who went sightseeing to Greek houses for a while went for a walk to the chapel at the upper side. His wife Barbara started to wait for her husband at the halfway. She started to look for her husband when he did not come back after an hour passed.

Smith asked for help at the main road when she could not find her husband. Gendarmerie arrived at the region after the citizens called. Gendarmerie teams that started for search in Kayaköy as it was getting late carried on looking for the British tourist with the help of villagers until about 03.00 a.m.

Gendarmerie came back to Kayaköy to carry on searching for the lost British Terrance Bellamy. Gendarmerie teams noticed someone whose clothes were torn was running towards them. It was determined as the result of identification that this person was the British Terrance Bellamy who got lost one day ago.

Gendarmerie teams gave water and bagel to the British tourist. The British tourist told what happened all night after he drank a bottle of water quickly. 

Bellamy explained he thought about the return path when he realized he got lost: “I entered into one of the Greek houses when it got dark. I decided to sleep here as I would not find the return path. I saw the lights at night. But I could not move as the region was full of cliffs and abysses. I lost my glasses and little staff in the wood. It was very cold. I got cold. I saw the lights of the mosque in the early morning hours. When the sun came out, I followed the sounds of prayers, I walked and saw you.”

Terrance Bellamy was taken to his hotel with gendarmerie car. Barbara Smith welcomed her partner at the hotel door. The couple that could not stop crying at the meeting moment shared their happpiness and hugged each other.
