Gökhan Arıcı from Karamürsel won the greased wrestling
tournament in Seki and became the wrestling champion. Citizens coming from many
regions from Fethiye to Antalya watched the tournament with great interest.
The 19th Traditional Seki
Greased Wrestling Tournament that was held for the benefit of Culture Centre
Building in Seki went breathtaking. 490 wrestlers raced at the tournament. Seki
Mayor Veli Yıldız thanked everyone for great attendance and stated, “We are
very glad to make our traditional sport live in our region.”
The final wrestlings of the
children made the audiences get pretty excited and wrestlers of Fethiye were
strongly applauded. Tourists took lots of pictures of the famous wrestlers and
tournaments as well.
Gökhan Arıcı, the ex-champion
of Kırkpınar and owner of the golden belt, came first and assumed the title of
Wrestling Champion. Gökhan Arıcı beat Mehmet Terzi from Antalya in 7-minute
wrestling very easily. Davut Cansel from Antalya won the Second Class Championship
and Yüksel Topçu from Fethiye came second at the tournament.

tournament in Seki: Hasan Güzeller in Children 1; Mecit Uysal in Children 2;
Gürkan Balcı in Encouragement 1; Muhammed Aygül in Windly; Yüksel Erçelik in
Children Package; Hüseyin Yerlice in Adults Package.
